The United Nations General Assembly and Secretary General Kofi Annan considered this Resolution for this 61st Session. No formal action was taken by the General Assembly in 2006, but plenty of informal discussions did take place, and particularly the forwarding of medical articles on the effects of artificial sweeteeners, the most egregious neurotoxic and carcinogenic additives exported by the USA, France, the United Kingdom, Japan, and China. Many heads of state responded most favourably to our efforts, particularly from nations which have had the perspicacity and intelligence to decline the accumulation of nuclear weapons, and we can only hope that efforts will continue to advance to either ask the new United Nations Undersecretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, to introduce the Resolution to create a new Undersecretary General for Nutrition and Consumer Protection in the 2007 General Assembly, or that it will have advance as a Nation's Resolution. The USA, ideological source for the inspiration that has created and funded the United Nations since 1946, is also the source of ghastly chemicals like Aspartame/Methanol/Formaldehyde/Diketopiperazine and Sucralose/Splenda/Methanol/Toluene, and Saccharin, manufactured by Monsanto, the corporation which brought to the world DDT, Agent Orange, and the Terminator systems of plant genetics. Numerous efforts to communicate medical articles and digital video discs to the heads of state of Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Canada, and other ostensibly progressive nations have been relatively ignored, as if the shock of incredulity that the USA's FDA could have been forced into approving Aspartame in 1981 were too much to accept, as well as even recognizing that these chemicals are continuing to do irreparable harm to hundreds of millions of people in those nations and many others less affluent. 2006 noted the removal of Holland Sweetener from the Aspatame business, which was announced two days after this correspondent wrote to Her Majesty, Beatrix, Queen of the Netherlands, in Dutch, about the medical implications of the Netherlands continuing to manufacture this poisonous artificial sweetener. Responses from the heads of state of Saudi Arabia, Guyana, Uganda, Monaco, Brasil, and other nations, as well as the UN Ambassadorial staffs of many other nations, demonstrate that there are many responsible heads of state that can move toward rescinding the approval for some of these manufactured food chemicals, regardless of how slow the USA is to do so, and how many corporate interests will continue to manipulate the FDA and related approval processes at the state level into obsequious submission. However, the need to post information, articles that are medically accurate about the effects of food additives, translation of these articles into as many languages as possible, and extended articles and comments by physicians, plaintiff's lawyers, translators, a clearing house of information about food chemicals, is incontrovertibly vital and imperative. There is no need to wait for formal official action to protect the health of hundreds of millions of peoples till the 2007 UN General Assembly: the information presented herein can be used immediately to prevent further ingestion of aspartame and other harmful sweeteners like Splenda/Sucralose and Saccharin, and hundreds of other harmful chemical food additives. We welcome voluntary contributions by translators, journalists, physicians, and plaintiff's lawyers. We have initiated legislation in the New Mexico Legislature, identical to last year's bill to ban Aspartame, Senate Bill 654, introduced by New Mexico State Senator Gerald Ortiz y Pino, which will be introduced again in mid January, 2007, despite the obstructions and mendacious interference of many multinational corporations, which will go to desparate lengths to delay, eviscerate, mollify, and manipulate the legislative processes however possible. During the 2006 legislative session, these included: Coca Cola, Pepsi Cola, Ajinomoto of Japan (the world's largest manufacturer of not only neurotoxic Aspartame, the artificial sweetener, but also another neurotoxic food additive, Monosodium Glutamate), the Calorie Control Council, Altria Corporate Services/Kraft/Philip Morris, and perhaps even a few of the pharmaceutical corporations that insist on continuing to add Aspartame/Methanol/Formaldehyde/Diketopiperazine to their products, even though they are fully aware of the medical harm and ultimate corporate liability and responsibility for doing so. Why would Philip Morris be interested in this legislation? Clearly, the tobacco corporations are obliged to pay out all of the judgements in the 1990's USA tobacco suits, a total of $235 billion, yet unfortunately for world health, must remain solvent and in business to be able to do so, and the need to prevent discussion of further compensatory, exemplary, and punitive damage suits from another realm, that of the incontrovertible harm done by food additives like Aspartame, Splenda, and Saccharin, is of great concern to them, and they will go to the absurd lengths of hiring top legal talent and lobbyists to do whatever it takes to silence such efforts. This is a shame, a bastardization, and a complete corruption of the valid processes in any true Democratic society and form of government, one which can be only overcome by participation of educators, physicians, lawyers, parents, farmers and ranchers, and the real constituents of New Mexico, who can illuminate their legislators that they will not accept corporate perfidy influencing them, in matters where life and death are truly at stake, as well as the recovery of 70% of our states' adult population and 40% of the New Mexico children, all of whom have used or continue to use Aspartame, despite the obvious medical imperative not to do so. To comprehend the magnitude of this project, examine the Food Additive Section of the Codex Alimentarius, Food and Agriculture Organization http://www.codexalimentarius.net/gsfaonline/additives/index.html The SYMPTOMS which are recognized as causal by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations are shocking; our intent is through legislation, by education, and eventual judicial and injunctive action, to bring to an end this era of junk food, carcinogens, neurotoxic food additives, and other chemicals, which has caused so much harm, medical problems, social dysfunction, academic failures, domestic violence, and other entirely gratuitous problems worldwide. To be sent a copy of the 2007 Santa Fe Visitor's Guide, which has a brief discussion of these matters published on the back cover, as well as some of the most crucial URL addresses for accurate and truthful medical articles on these subjects , please telephone 1 (800) 777-CITY, to ask that a copy be sent to you. Please take the time to let Governor Richardson know of the urgency of and obvious medical imperatives to ban Aspartame, and that his vocal and public support for doing so, rather than quietly capitulating to the corporate interests involved as well as their lobbyists, is going to make the difference between whether New Mexico can benefit from a true new Era of Consumer Protection, or be subject to more destructive and unrestrained multinational corporate biochemical mayhem. Please take the time to also send a copy to Lt. Governor Diane Denish,http://www.ltgovernor.state.nm.us/contact.html, as well as to New Mexico Attorney General, Gary King, Ph. D.
